Carrickfergus castle

Carrickfergus Castle is an exceptionally preserved Norman fortress in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Besieged in turn by the Scots, Irish, English, and French, this 12th-century stronghold stands commandingly on the shore of Belfast Lough. It remains one of the finest surviving medieval structures on the island.
